Recent films about Alaska

Have any Alaskans seen the film version of Krakauer's Into the Wild? And/or know if it was actually filmed in Alaska? What do you think?

For the record I hated the book and in general don't like the sensationalism of Krakauer's writing. But, whenever there's something about Alaska I am always intrigued. 30 Days of Night is also set in Alaska, but I don't need to see horrible violence. Plus, I doubt it was filmed in Alaska, but I am curious if the film depicts any Alaska Natives, as the parts of Alaska that actually have 30 days of night have a high Native population.

Haven't seen it yet-
I LOVED Under the Banner of heaven but did not like a Perfect Storm because I didn't feel like his obsession with the minutia of the dying experience made the book any better.

Into the Wild was very much shot on location, along the whole trek that McCandless took- Oregon, I think Ohio? I can't wait to see it, if just for the authentic Alaskan locations. Apparently the schoolbus scenes were taken in Cantwell, about 40 miles from where the real bus still is.

I wondered the same thing about 30 days of night, all the main characters I believe are white. But I heard that the comic which it is based on depicted more natives. I think it was filmed in new zealand

I haven't seen into the wild nor will I ever.
