The world is full of awesome people

I am watching Oprah's show featuring the man who is having a baby. Yes, you read that right. He's a FTM (transgendered man) and he's pregnant. So far, it's been a great show and the couple is very articulate. I have some bioethical concerns about messing with the human reproductive system. But I also believe in the human dignity of every person and their inalienable rights to express their personhood. And this Oprah show has the double interest for me of transgendered and pregnancy issues.

In a flukey moment of utter coolness, I turned on the telly and found myself watching this pregnant man on Oprah. A friend of mine was one of the first test tube babies and it is a fact that influences her in many ways.

I have so many questions - what are all those different hormones doing to him, to the baby? I have a hard time with adding hormones to my food, let alone people. Queer is cool in my book and I know change makes the world go round, but I still take pause for rewriting nature's codes.

Can anything we do be unnatural? What about my dyed hair? Is it REALLY red? heehee

Yeah, like I said, I have some big hesitations with rewriting nature's code, and I also know that there have been no long term studies on what the long term effects are of transition hormones, let alone how that will be effecting a developing fetus. But if the OB/GYN thinks that it's a normal pregnancy with normal baby development, so far so good!
