My husband is from New York and when he first moved here, he complained all the time about Massachusetts-- until we looked into moving back to NY and realized our tax burden would, like, double or triple. My in-laws pay federal, state, and county income taxes, local and county property taxes, a higher sales tax than we do, and "school" taxes (whereas here the schools are paid with regular property taxes). We were like, "Uh yeah....no."
