A slightly better day

Today I.....

*didn't study at all
*filed two + years of paperwork
*went to a 2 hour voice lesson and started learning a Verdi song (!)
*received a bill from my school for 8000 pounds (all three years of school at once! whee!)
*cut up two chickens: heads, wings, tails, legs; this is SO much harder than I thought it would be, even with strong arms and sharp knives!
*cooked two legs of one of the above chickens (menu: chardonnay, garlicky salad, quinoa with peas, and chicken quickly rolled and fried in olive oil, herbs de provence, lemon juice, cracked pepper and salt, then roasted in the oven)
*started to feel a tiny bit better

Wow! I don't know if I could EVER cut up an entire chicken! Holy moly!!!!

Well, sure you could! The meat CSA I belong to through Slow Food is really incredible. There is something really primal, really satisfying about cutting the head off my own chicken, about having to work HARD to slice through bone. I have saved the necks and feet to make stock with.

So glad to hear you're feeling better! The menu sounds delicious. I envy your cooking.

Is there any chance that you'll ever be able to eat a wider variety of foods? If/when that is we will have a celebratory feast!

Well, my limits aren't that bad these days. No: citrus, corn. Special occasions only: milk, chocolate, eggs, soy, cod, millet. Any celebratory feast is a special occasion, so only corn and citrus are out! Woo!
