For the musically inclined: The distorted tunes test.

I got 26 out of 26! Phew.

I got a perfect score, too (not surprising, since I'm a classically-trained American soprano with perfect pitch), but I didn't think this was so much a test of innate pitch ability as it was a test of knowledge of tunes that most Americans know. With a very few exceptions (the Christmas carols, Für Elise, Auld Lang Syne, and I think La Marseillaise), the songs were American folk songs that I wouldn't expect non-Americans to know. And I wouldn't expect non-Christians to know all of the Christmas carols.

"I'm a classically-trained American soprano with perfect pitch" Yeah.... blah blah blah. Me too. Except for the perfect pitch part. That must suck. I know I have a hard enough time when others (or myself) people go off tune.

But I noticed the bias too. Although, to create the test one has to find songs that at least most people know. I suspect that if some one was being tested for deafness there would be other confirming tests.
