Mac help

My mac has a built in microphone. I thought I'd record myself singing and post it for fun. But, like an idiot, I deleted Garage Band (I wanted to know if I could get rid of applications that came with the computer). I thought it was a game and surely I'd never use it. Adam now tells me it's the basic recording application. I went to the Mac site and tried to down load it, but my computer tells me it can't find the appropriate application.

Can anyone help me get it back? I already emptied the trash a few days ago, so it's not recoverable from there.

Silly me.

Do you know if using the start up disks will negate any programs I've installed or downloaded?

Shouldn't, as long as you do not boot from the startup disk, but put it in after you start it up. Then use the finder to look into the CD and there should be an install programs option. You should be able to chose garage band from there (a box checking exercise) ... at least that is the way it used to be. Avoid any option that sounds like "revert" or "return to factory default".

Garageband and iPhoto are part of ilife. to reinstall ilife instert install disk 1, open it in finder and double-click on "install bundled software only".
