What if the whole world could vote?

The Economist has a great map inviting the world to vote for our president. Check it out.

Just think if we could vote for thier leaders! *grin*

Hell, most Americans don't even know where most other countries are!

Oh I think Americans know the area around them as much as people in other countries do. Don't let 'em fool you.

Most Americans I know have no clue who the leaders of Canada and Mexico are.

You should hang with a better crowd.

Of course, most Canadians I know don't know who the leader of Mexico is - so I need to hang with a better crowd of Canadians, too. And the Mexicans I know are really Americans, so they don't count as far as asking them about World Leaders.

But our leaders don't come with the moniker of 'Leader of the Free World'.
I think you've got plenty of influence already thankyouverymuch ;)
Try not to bugger it up this time around :p

*laughs* Hey! If you all are willing to concede that our leaders really ARE the Leaders of the Free World and bow down before us, then perhaps we could notice you.

A bit.

Once in a while.

Perhaps.

Judging by the Economist poll, the world prefers Obama! And the Economist isn't known for being particularly liberal. I wonder what will happen if McCain gets voted in? *shudders to think*

[identity profile] chiv.livejournal.com 2008-09-29 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think one of the reasons is that when we vote in leaders, while the primary individual (Prime Minister, Chancellor, President etc.) is important, the party behind them is even more so.
While McCain may seem to have a great deal of relevant experience and does on occasion come across with some charisma, he's still stuck with the Republican party as his backing band, not to mention 'Hockey-Mom' Barbie.

Even if it were Josiah Bartlet in McCain's place, we'd still vote for the Democrat.

Oh my gosh, JOSIAH BARTLETT. Read this (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=980DE2D61E30F932A1575AC0A96E9C8B63). If you love West Wing, you will love this!

btw, when the west wing was on, a significant number of americans thought Josiah Bartlett was the president...so we can be pretty clueless about our OWN leader. Scarey!

REALLY?? I wish he was the president! I long to respect the president again....
