Hello day. Can we start over?

I was going to take the day off the internet but I've only been out of bed for not quite two hours and I already feel defeated. It was a hard night. Very very cold (remember our house has no insulation). B nursed all night long, and squirmed. The water main in the neighborhood froze yesterday so we have to ration the water. Maybe I can take a shower? I only shower every other day, less when it's dry and cold like this, so this morning I really need a shower. If I attempt I know it won't be a warm shower. Ugh. The dishes are piled high in the kitchen. And of course, because of the snow and ice the washing machine repairman hasn't been able to make it out so we have piles of laundry too. Adam received a pay check this morning, which would be great and a huge relief, except he forgot to tell the clients to make the check out to him and not his business. So frustrating. I'm feeling the tickle of a sore throat. And..... Bennett is hitting full on toddler mode. He's discovered 'No' and whinging. Ay yi yi.

In good news (because I really need to perk myself up), B also said Mama last night for the first time. I just about melted. It's also stunningly beautiful here. We have plenty of heat. I made delicious veggie lasagne last night. Tomorrow we are having some new friends over for Adam's amazing cheeseburgers.

No. That didn't help. Still feeling exhausted. It just might be one of those days.

But this picture is incredibly beautiful.

The water in Spain was unreliable - so I know what you are talking about! And, in my first house, the pipes would freeze often. (Unless I kept the water on at a trickle all night and day)

I did learn to boil snow in big pots on the stove to wash myself and dishes and socks and underwear - done in batches. Pain in the ass, but what can you do? That saved on the water, at least, and got us through until shit could be fixed.

I think the problem is the cold snap. It's quite unusual for here. But I'm not sure what is going on. We still have water.... Oh yeah, and did I mention that due to the road conditions there hasn't been any trash or recycling pick up for weeks?

It's crazy here. Sort of an adventure....

In Spain, our fun was always in August. To get water to your house (in your stone pit under your house) a guy has to, once a month, open the slues gates so the water can flow to you. In August - he goes on vacation, so...no water. The water sent rarely lasted 1 month anyway, so to not have water for 2 months - YIKES!

They didn't have garbage pick up - ever. You burned it, threw it into the street, or in the ditch.

Dose up on vitamin C so hopefully you won't have another bout of illness. Hope the paycheck takes some of the pressure off.

Enjoy the snow while it lasts as most years we get a small amount usually around February so this is not likely to repeat next year. Looking forward to seeing you soon when the roads are more travel-friendly!

So much for our January field trips! I think I'm just tired. But I have been taking Vits C and D and some echinacea. I think I'm drinking too much tea with sugar. Time to cut back. Stay safe on the roads!

Eat some garlic, eat some ginger.

I'm sorry the day's not going well. But isn't it sweet when they look at you and say, "Mama?"

Mmmmmm garlic. I have a huge knob of ginger. I think it's time for some honey ginger tea!

Some days are just like that. Tomorrow is another day. And one with cheeseburgers!

Saw your comment about too much tea with sugar....don't give up the tea, just drop the sugar. Tea is so lovely without sugar!

Black tea is too bitter without sweetner! And agave nectar is nice with coffee but not with tea. But, yes, I do need to scale back the sugar. And eat more fruits and veg. Oh! Tonight I made that barley dish with red pepper, mushroom, carrot and some spinach then stuffed green peppers with it and baked them in the oven. And had some salmon. So good! We thanked you at the table.

Yay! Glad I was part of your dinner!

Do you think there might be a connection between Bennett still nursing & your level of exhaustion? Just a thought & what do I know; I'm not you, but I do recall how draining breast feeding could sometimes be.

Yes. Especially when he does it all night. But I'm not going to wean him. But I also have long been mentally exhausted for lots of other reasons.

That picture is amazing!
