I have a cold.

Bennett continues to sleep only in hour long stretches. Then he "wakes" and fusses. Why won't he sleep?

I have worked a lot this week.

Adam no longer wants to bed share with Bennett. I do. But I understand - the tossing and waking is hard to take. I don't want to sleep train, but something has to change.

I went to a work meeting in the city today and had lunch with several of the wealthiest women in the San Francisco Jewish community. One wore super fancy clothes I've only seen in magazines. She also has two live-in nannies (for two kids) and a personal assistant - and she's my age. Very nice! But I just couldn't relate. Plus, I felt down right dumpy and bland in my ill fitting slacks and bad hair.

Why is that when I'm away from Bennett I can't wait to be with him again, yet when I get home I wish I didn't have to entertain him so I could do one thing with out it taking four times as long?

Tomorrow we leave for San Diego for the weekend.

For all you JDHS alumns, I just heard that Karyn Price passed in her sleep last night.

Wow. Karyn Price . . . she was amazing. Never had her but met her and she knew my number right away.

Oh, I hope you sort something out with the sleep issues soon. You sounds exhausted sweetie *hugs*

I can't figure it out. I've been sick three times since Bennett was born - that's three times the my normal year. And you know, lack of sleep makes me less excited about him during the day. When I've been up every hour all night long, I'm not so ready to play during the day. Go figure.

It's ok, I get it. :)

I had Ms. Price--she was weird but awesome. Took me out to lunch once, even. I think of her every once in a while. I hope her passing was peaceful.

One of the people I knew through my fieldwork drove a Maserati; she didn't dress pretentiously but it was clear she didn't wear cheap clothes or get her hair cut at Supercuts. Happily I think I was the only one who really noticed the style gap between us.

Good luck with the sleep issues. When Sam got to be about 10-12 months old (I can't remember exactly; it's all a blur), sleeping in the same bed with us was actually keeping him from settling down and sleeping deeply, so it was much better for him to move out of our bed.

I think transitioning back to the floor might really help. I tried the other night and he just faux-crawled back to my side of the bed and whinged. So it's going to take some ninja parenting to work that out again.

Have you considered one of those 'sidecar' style things that would give Bennet his own sleeping space, but is attached to the bed so you don't have anything between you.

Wow, that was a really horrible and inneffective description. Here's an example: Arm's Length Co-Sleeper (http://www.armsreach.com/shop-3/the-original-1/black-toffee-short-liner-16.html)

That way you and Bennet still get the closeness, and Adam can get some sleep...

I know what you're talking about and there isn't room in our bedroom for it. But we're going to transition him back to floor when we get back from SD.
