Quick update: My family's cabin is spectacular. I have seen sea lions frolicking in the kelp bed on the north side of the spit, whales, and a bald eagle is building a nest in our "back yard". Went fishing a few days ago with Dad. Wet. But, whales were bubble feeding and circled around us (not surrounding us, but moving their feeding in a large arc around where we were fishing). At one point they came within 50 feet of us (I'm guessing) and dove under our boat. Made my heart stop. Caught 4 beautiful silver salmon and two nice humpies (AKA pink salmon). Dungeness crab in our crab pots. It's been a feast. I'm not looking forward to the heat wave when I return.

I'm also having great fun with my neice. Love overflows from my heart when I look at her.

Ah, the critters. Here there are plovers, snipes, artic terns, eiders. I have yet to see ravens, but they are here. It is mostly birdlife. I have eaten Icelandic lobster, wild salmon (red as blood, really), scallops, shrimp, and some fish that might have been seawolf, but it's hard to say since it was in an opaque soup. And a hotdog downtown, which means lamb as well. I'm in the city, so no horses or sheep.

Maybe I'll be a damnable tourist and go out on a boat from the harbour.

Enjoy the kiddie too.

No joke on the seafood extravaganza in my belly. I think I'm taking close to 40 lbs. of assorted fish and crab back to Oakland with me. Whee! Too bad you and I could not feast together, but I just can't curse my parents for living out on Shelter. Holy WOW.
