Netflix has done me in. I watch a god-awful amount of tv now. Almost all of it on dvd. But now I am sucked in to two shows on actual network tv. Oy. My tv list is as follows:
Currently on dvd:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - mid-season 7. This is the show that will not die.
The West Wing - early season 2. Aaron Sorkin is god.
Arrested Development - I think we have one last episode in season 2.
Veronica Mars - season 2 finale is all that we have left...
On tv:
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - terrible title, but it is an Aaron Sorkin show. So far, so good.
Veronica Mars- season opener tonight!! Whee! I'm throwing a party for it. We're watching that last season finale and then segueing into the "live" show. I hate commercials. SO MUCH. But I love Veronica Mars.
Other shows that are in the netflix cue:
Sports Night - Adam has never seen this early Sorkin wonder.
Mary Tyler Moore - feminism on tv! or so I've been told.
Dead Wood
Entourage
Battlestar Galactica
More West Wing (only through season 4 - after which Sorkin stopped writing) and Arrested Development.
No Six Feet Under, which I hear is amazing. Dead Like Me was also another one recommended to us. Oy. I've become addicted to tv without commercials!
Okay this is like the most boring post ever. I can't believe I'm over 30 and just posted an entry about my tv list. I looked through some of my earlier ramblings, from when I was in grad school, and there were occasional deep thoughts, sometimes a nice turn of phrase made an appearance. Now, not so much. Sitting behind a desk all day is turning me into mush.
Must go file something.

Date: 2006-10-03 10:31 pm (UTC)We just started watching dvd tv too- starting with Weeds, which was OK. Definitely do Six Feet Under! Don't watch it on Bravo with commercials and no nudity or cursing!
Another good one was Rome...

Date: 2006-10-04 12:36 am (UTC)I don't have even basic TV, so it is nice to get a good old dose of pure TV.
My only problem is that I eat up a DVD box set like a total addict.
I think I watched 8 episodes of Carnivale in one day. Don't even get me started on Buffy... I have this weird cycle where I go through all the Buffy seasons in one year starting around now. Halloween time always gets my to start season 1 and then I am trapped till the spring! Maybe this year I will resist and pop in My So Called Life instead (at least there's only 1 season!)
I don't think this is the mot boring post ever. TV is pretty crappy in many, many ways, but at least it is a common denominator through which people can relate to each other, and that good? right? or maybe that's ultimately sad that people have to relate through a fake reality. hmmm...I'm going to stop thinking about this before I get depresso!

Date: 2006-10-04 10:14 pm (UTC)I'm on season five - only six shows before it ends... such grief.
It mixes the morbid with the sacred, the funny with the tragic. There are moments of emotional expectation that are just left to hang in the air - no bells, no strings, no happy ever afters.
It's just like life.
Amazing.
If you were on this side of the Atlantic, I'd start from the beginning - we could have six feet under parties - everybody wears black and brings a sad story.
Pád.
