My Halloween weekend was not a non-stop party. In fact, I slept most of it away. At least ten hours of sleep on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as two naps on Sat. and one on Sunday. That's got to be a lifetime record for me. I am not a natural napper.

Friday night was my only Halloween activity. Adam and I dressed up as the Goon and his sidekick Frankie, respectively. I got to dress up in a wifebeater, fedora, and boots, packing a strap-on knife, and act like the rude, annoying, grabber of ladies that is Frankie. Twas fun. I will try to post a picture if the hostess of the party ever passes one along. The best costume of the night was [livejournal.com profile] fictional_emily's: she came as birth control pills. She made a pink skirt divided into sections, each labeled for a day of the week (28 panels in all), each with a vinyl circle containing a colored piece of felt(? cardboard?). On top of that skirt she was decked out in a sort of classy, pastel '50s blouse. AWESOME.

[livejournal.com profile] hrafntinna was in town this weekend. Her presence was a delight; it felt like she had never moved away. But, alas, after feeding her and [livejournal.com profile] alizarin71 a meal of halibut and salmon chowder, petite syrah, and salad, she left. Columbus, Ohio, doesn't realize the gem it has in its midst. I am planning a visit to see her. I've been thinking about February. I really want to see her in action - teaching undergrads the joy of myth and all things Scandanavian. I sent her an email today about that visit:

"I just found out that John Mayer will be in Columbus on Feb. 23. Would it be absurd to book a visit to coincide with that concert? Wouldn't that just be a little bit silly? Especially seeing as how you don't even like John Mayer. You should dissuade me or I might just do it. And go by myself. To a large venue concert. Filled with screaming, clueless adolescents. Just to hear Dork Supreme play blues guitar.

I think I'm going to post this, it is so ridiculous.
But that's why you love me."

Time spent with John Mayer is time not spent with Hrafntinna. Weigh your vacation days carefully. So speaks Galactus.
