Happy Halloween/Samhain/All Hallow's Eve

theatokosI have been spacey for days. Simultaneously amped up and fuzzy, well-slept but dragging, excited about things and unable to focus. It's like a caffeine high without the caffeine. All I can think is that maybe there is something to the idea that the veil between the worlds is indeed thinner this time of year and what with all the meditation and chilling the fuck out that I've been doing this year maybe, just maybe, I'm more aware of such things.
Or it's just amusing timing.
My plans for the night involve a fall harvest dinner of pork chops, parsnip mashed potatoes, roasted beets and carrots, and red wine. Then some sort of mellow ritual involving candles and thinking of the dead. Then Veronica Mars. You know, priorities and all.
No children will be knocking my front door, sadly. Mostly because I live in an apartment building, but even more so because I live in a rather dodgy part of Oakland. Not the worst, certainly, but still suspeKids out alone in the dark, knocking on doors they don't know? Leaving our main door open to trick-or-treaters? I wish.
