RAIN!

It is really coming down outside. For the Bay Area, we are in the midst of a massive storm. Thankfully my place isn't getting the 60-70mph winds. Basically, it feels like a bad mid-October day in Juneau. Strong winds, blankets of rain. Only it's not cold. It's awfully fantastic to be home, wrapped in my turquoise bath robe reading and drinking tea, listening to the delightful sound of rain against my windows.

Other unrelated thoughts:
I am so pleased to see John Edwards do so well in the Iowa caucuses. It was exciting to hear how many people turned out. Clearly the field of Democrats is inspiring people. Sadly, turn out for the Republicans was uninspiring, except for Huckabee. All I can do is shake my head on that one.

And, I am officially in my second trimester. I am feeling so very much better. Normal even. There are obvious signs that I am still pregnant, but I no longer feel like I've regressed to adolescence - the first trimester is seriously like going through puberty again. Massive hormone changes, the moodiness/withdrawal/horniness that goes with it, rapid and sudden swelling and growing, break outs (those haven't gone away, sadly), body aches as things grow and shift suddenly, bursts of tears, etc. It's humbling to feel 14 again. But thank god that's over.

Thank you! There are perks to making less money and being on a student schedule, like bathrobes. Now that I'm feeling better I may actually study too!

If you're feeling really good by Sunday, come to the Make-out Room in SF at 9 p.m. :-)

Yes, i think bathrobe perks are quite worth an income loss.

Ooh! Neat! It's very possible.... what's the cover, and are you on at 9? Sadly, my bed time is around 10pm these days (must get 9 hours of sleep, oof), but if you're on first I could make an exception. :)

Hmmm, I'm not sure on the cover but probably not much. I think $5 or so.
We play at 9 (someone else plays at 8 and another band at 10).
I understand the bedtime needs, I'd usually much rather be curled up in bed myself most nights :-)

Alright! I am there! Assuming: I am feeling fine and either my car is fixed by then, or I can get carshare.

Yay for live music!

Spectaculoso! It's also pretty close to BART.
The storms should have let up by then I hope.

Isn't it like AMAZING once you hit 2nd trimester? I feel great once I hit it. Since I hit 12 wks I've been busy in the kitchen, cooking and baking! Not to mention scrubbing the hell out of my floor and even getting the baby's room ready! Oh AND cleaning out the basement.

I have been quite productive...

Enjoy this time because the VERY end gets hard-ish, too. :)

Yeah, I hear the last trimester can be very uncomfortable. It's a good incentive not to gain too much weight. Or at least to keep as active as possible.

Adam and I actually got some baby clothes for Christmas and my sis went out and bought us some very cute green outfits - one with peas all over it (for the Lil' Pea, I could die of cuteness)! I have no where to put them, so I need to get a couple of tubs and box up all of my clothes that don't fit anymore. Make some room for the large undies and baby clothes. :)

The energy thing is so true. I actually made a lasagna last night with my garlicky salad (ooh, do you like lots of garlic? I should so give you the recipe!). Cooking again felt great.

Garlic is my best friend.
Send whenever you have the time :)

All of this is to taste and is imprecise in its measurings. I will estimate what I use for a whole head of romaine, which feeds anywhere from 2-6 people depending on how much a person wants to eat (I have been known to eat nearly a whole head of lettuce for dinner, but I'm weird and obsessed with garlic).

Dressing:
*4 cloves of garlic, pressed (chopped just isn't the same)
*5 hearty glugs of olive oil, can add more at the end if the dressing isn't viscous enough for your liking
*a dash or two of worcestershire sauce (can find a vegan variety at whole foods)
*a big spoonful of stone ground mustard (can use others if necessary, but I prefer this kind. Whatever you do, NO yellow mustard!)
*half a lemon juiced, or however many drops of lemon concentrate depending on how lemony you like it

Mix together, toss with lettuce. I sometimes add fresh grated parmesean, but then that's not vegan. :) I suspect eating this regularly is what keeps me from getting sick!
