Oh my god, the biggest roll of thunder I have ever heard just happened! I saw a blink of lightning out of the corner of my eye and then massive thunder (I don't come from a thunder and lightning place so I'm sure this was tame for those who do). But the thunder was so loud that it set off car alarms. Cool!

I woke up this morning to sun and no rain, but that ended quickly. It is dreary and grey and wet again. Yay! I love weather and California, even northern California, just doesn't much variance. I am finding this stormy weather awfully fun. Despite my journey via public transport into the city today.

I am going to an orientation at a birthing center to see if I like it and if it's practical for me to birth my baby there, instead of at ol' Kaiser. I'm really looking forward to it. From there I head to my favorite little neighborhood in SF, Cole Valley, to the beautiful home of some friends who are hosting Feast Bay, our arts salon. I can't wait to have something to sing for them. I haven't sung in months, but that is about to change.

you must not have spent much time on the western plains-- yes, the rain is definitely impressive, but the thunder & lightning is nothing comparred to what I remember while growing up in Colorado.

& let me know how you like the birthing center! (although I'll tell you another reason I stuck with Kaiser was becsue it's 10 mins from my house... no bridge or tunnel involved)

Yah, Kaiser is literally 6 blocks from my house, but still. I'm gonna check this place out, see what they're all about. I still plan to get a tour of Kaiser's facilities. I just want some options. I looked at the one in Walnut Creek, but holy fancy pants. Still seemed very medical/industrial, but at least it's moving in the right direction.

I'm also exited today because my mother confirmed that she's coming for 6 weeks this summer, and well in advance of my due date, so she's guaranteed to be there for the birth. At heart, I am a huge mama's girl!

And, no I've never been to the western plains. I've spent some time in rural Australia where they have big storms like that. I've been in some pretty heinous dust storms. And we used to lay outside and watch the lightning. But that one (and only) peal of thunder this morning must've been right over my house! Things shook. It was cool.
