Adam and I have been looking for a two bedroom apt. Mostly because my mother is coming for 6 weeks this summer to help out with the new baby. This is absolutely wonderful, but anyone sleeping on the couch for 6 weeks in a one bedroom apt is claustrophobic no matter how easy going. I've been worried that finding a bigger space wouldn't be a possibility. Rents are going up, quite a lot, around here. Our landlady is pretty awesome and hasn't raised rent on us in the 2.5 years we've been here. I was afraid nothing would open up in our price range, within our public transportation limits, in a neighborhood that didn't suck. We are awfully spoiled in this apt - it's really nice.
But! A bigger apartment just down the hall has opened up! It's more expensive, of course, but is mostly the same layout (alas, no built ins in the kitchen) with an extra room. It's in the back of the building, which means it's much quieter. I feel good about this move. We won't have to hire movers and may even be able to roll the piano down the hall ourselves. Whew.
The only crimp in the good news is that February is a sucky month for moving. Every single weekend this month is packed. It's a good thing I'm a Director of Administration! I shall use my powers of strategizing and creating time lines and employing systems! Go me. It's good to have some practical skills, cuz all this abstract theology nonsense isn't going get the furniture moved.

Date: 2008-02-12 12:15 am (UTC)well i'm of a two minds. i am proud of my audition and everything i did to get there and be able to give those performances. however for me it doesn't alleviate and/or negate the disappointment. i'm just dealing and that's all i can do.
