Yesterday summed up the best and worst of Juneau and this trip.

On the worst side: Bussed into town, the route taking us past the prison and run down homes with twelve cars stacked in the yard. One last dinner with dad, not quite as tasty as I remembered it, REALLY bad wine. Lost at scrabble, again. (has grad school made me dumber?!) Continued to be sickly. Went to a party where I was easily 10 years older than many/most of the attendees and knew most from working at the high school- not in the good way in which I've met several of my amazing friends, but in the "I've read their files, I've worked with them in a professional capacity" way. Not comfortable. Not my scene. Plus, no one likes being deliberately ignored. It's just fucking ridiculous.

On the good side: It was another great Alaskan day. We went to lunch with my surrogate parents, it was easily one of the most enjoyable moments we've had here. I love them and I'm not allowing them to fade from my life out some false sense of defference. Hung out some more with Anna. Went to the symphony pops concert with mum and Alanna, one of those events that reminded me that small towns can be cultured and don't need to be half-assed. Saw numerous friendly faces of old. Went to that party and saw other friendly faces. The house the party was at was incredible.

And now, I pack to go "home". I guess that's Berkeley.
