Sep. 19th, 2004 06:40 pmIt rained today. A down pour. The gutters were rushing at 7.30 in the morning. A symphony of liquid restoring my soul and refreshing my spirit. It is autumn here. Finally the air has a bit of chill in it. I wore socks for the first time in months. I didn't need to, but I thought I'd celebrate the weather. The wind blew and leaves litter the streets.
I saw all of this from the chair at the bookstore. It was a depressingly dismal day at work. My brain goes into sleep mode, it's on pause. The only highlight was the woman who has returned from Iceland to finish her dissertation on Icelandic mythology. She reminds me a goth who got it right. Later, she came back over from the coffee shop across the street to show me a picture of Iceland used in a car ad in the NY Times fashion supplement. I like regulars.
I want to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and go to sleep early. But, I am Buffyless. Instead I will do my reading. Good grad student. Good.
