Dec. 16th, 2005 01:13 pmThis just in from the Economist:
Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said on television that the Holocaust was a myth held to be “higher than God himself” and repeated calls for Israel to be moved to Europe or America. An Israeli spokesman described the comments as a “perverse vision of the world”.
How stupid can the president of Iran be? What dangerous game is he trying to play? Perhaps this is all publicity for Michael Chabon's book, due out in April of 2006:
Chabon is at work on a novel entitled The Yiddish Policeman's Union, a thriller set in an imaginary world inspired by Franklin D. Roosevelt’s short-lived plan during WWII to create a Jewish homeland in Alaska, rather than the Middle East.
I know I'll be reading.
