I am a scholar, like fer real
Feb. 27th, 2007 10:46 amYesterday was a day that sort of snuck up on me, reaffirming that yes, I am scholarly.
First, a Zimbabwean priest working on his PhD in England, on Mary as an inspiration for AIDS infected South African women (I can't possibly think of how that could work, but it's not my project), tracked me down and, via email, asked me if he could read my thesis as a way of getting familiar with recent literature in the field. Ha! I have contributed "recent literature to the field"! Neat.
Secondly, I received my acceptance letter from the University of Wales! Beginning Oct. 1 I will be back to being a full-time student, if via distance. Sadly, in the middle of all of my excitement I am fighting the voices in my head that bemoan going into more debt for school and only having a part-time income and all of those stressors that just plain rain on my parade. There must be some way to respectfully deal with these very real concerns without encouraging the crazy judgemental quality of the voices.
Until then, I am excited for the fall. Nervous, too, but in the good way.
