Moved apartments Friday and Saturday. Adam did the lion's share of just about everything. Some friends came and helped on Friday, so I stuck to one small box of kitchen and bathroom items at a time. But, at least, those rooms are the only ones entirely put away! It's so quiet and cool in the back of the building.

Sunday was spent working a conference. I didn't get to hear Judith Plaskow speak (I'm annoyed), but whatever. I sat next to her at dinner Sat night. Ha! The one interesting highlight of the day for me was the rumor (confirmed via Wikipedia, whatever that's worth, and Variety) I heard that the Cohen brothers will direct the film version of Michael Chabon's Yiddish Policemen's Union. Which I think is AWESOME. My only hope (oh please!!) is that they film at least some of it on location. They're the kind of directors that would, right?

Dinner!

Tonight will be the first meal cooked in the new apartment. [livejournal.com profile] alizarin71 is coming over to help Adam sort comic books and as he's such an enthusiastic consumer of my cooking, I plan to keep the praise coming. I pulled a chunk of meat out of the freezer to thaw. It's one of the last from our CSA. Side of pork. I had no idea what that was until I started googling recipes. Turns out it's uncured bacon! This ain't gonna be a low fat meal, folks! Adam and Alizarin's favorite kind.

Here's what I'm going to make:
fried slices of side of pork
white gravy made from the juices (aka, fat)
biscuits
greens

And there's beer in the fridge for the boys.

Now, since I didn't know I was making this until just now I have no time to make biscuits from scratch. Anyone know of a bakery that makes excellent biscuits in the Berkeley/north Oakland area? Otherwise, I'll be buying some bisquick or somesuch.

It feels like ages since I've actually cooked a real meal. I love it so much and miss having the energy for it.
