Quick update
May. 26th, 2008 12:51 pmThank you ALL for your prayers and blessings and well wishes. This is such a hard/exciting/wonderful time.
Briefly: Benn remains in NICU and will probably be here all week. He's losing weight and developing jaundice. This is common for premies and even for some regular newborns. But... he has to be watched more closely because he's so small. So, I am on a round the clock 3 hour feeding schedule. We have to supplement with formula as well. I feel confident that he'll be a straight breast fed baby in due time, but for now our main goal is to stabilise his health and get him home. He continues to show a lot of strength for as young as he is.
I am discharged from the hospital after the next feeding. My life is lived in 3 hour chunks. Adam is renting us a car so I can get to and from the hospital even quicker - we live 10 blocks away, but now is not the time to do that much walking every day! My focus is on sleeping, getting tons of fluids (good for the boob production) and feeding Benn.
There will be pictures soon. Will try to post some later today or tomorrow!
