Oh, I pulled out a couple decade's snapshots for my sweetie recently. He had never seen versions of me younger than 1995... What a shock.
Passport, 1984, near end of grad school: close-cropped medium brown hair, pinstripe blouse.
CA driver's licence, 1990, after 5 corporate years: A plethora of curls in chin-length permed blonde-highlighted hair, scarf, polkadot blouse. (Think Alice in "Dilbert". I worked with the woman she was modeled on.)
Blue & Gold Fleet tourist photo, 1990: same haircut, reverse-cut baggy acid-washed jeans, baggy jean jacket, baggy everything. I look 50 pounds heavier.
Passport, 1997: incredibly close-cropped hair, still blondish, round face. Reaction of friend: "Who is that, your MOM?" Well, yeah, now that I look at the similarities. eye_of_zohar begs me to grow my hair out. I leave my corporate job.
CA DL, 2002: Chin-length wavy red hair, goddess-y scarf. Clearly a course correction.
Passport, 2008: Long straight red hair, thinner face, simple top. Expression looks a bit surly because I'm trying not to blink at the flash. Otherwise, not too bad.
... So I'm all about the 21st century. Not too much nostalgia, sartorially speaking.
