Adam is having a boys outing today. He is taking B and meeting up with a dad from our birthing class and his new son. They're going to tromp around San Francisco. That means I have 5 whole hours by myself.

The mind boggles.

Of course, a whole list of Shoulds spring to mind. The biggest one being: read some damn theology!

But no. My real list of possible things to do goes like this: get a pedicure, do some yoga, go for a bike ride, meditate, SLEEP, take a looooong shower, go to a cafe and read something intellectual but fun, read some tarot. All of those things, except going for a bike ride, I can do with B around, but it's hard to fully sink into the activities, to take my time, to not feel slightly distracted.

Pumping will be in that list, because I can't go 5 hours and not do that.

(Unrelated, but I think B has been having nightmares. Can babies have them? What do they dream about? I had horrible awful nightmares growing up and I so hope he escapes this.)

A pedicure! An unhurried shower! A real book! Five hours to yourself! Oh, I'm jealous. Throw those "should"s out the window and enjoy it.

Night terrors, maybe? He is young for that, but Sam went through a period--he might have been ~6 months, I have no idea anymore--but he would start thrashing around in bed screaming his head off and I couldn't wake him or comfort him or anything. He just had to stop on his own. The doctor said it sounded like night terrors, but that usually it happens to older babies.

eloise had nightmares as well. she'd often thrash around, whimper, and cry. i'd look over and her eyes would be closed as she cried in her sleep. =[ it passed as she got older.

your few hours off sound wonderful! it's so darn nice to unwind.

It's good to know this passes. He's been fussing so much lately in his sleep. I wonder if it's discomfort due to a growth spurt. But who knows.
