No kidding! She's not problem free - no can be I guess. But overall she's done a pretty good job governing Alaska. But I don't live there anymore, so I don't know from first hand experience.
She has the same problem that Obama has: No experience, which could be a good thing. Her conservative values scare me, and that is a huge deal for me personally. I've heard some rumors that it wasn't his choice at all, apparently even Karl Rove was trying to talk him out of it. And if that is true then I would assume she was picked for shock value which is a stupid reason. She's not going to gain any more support for him, I doubt Hillary supporters will vote for him because of Palin.
yeah how crazy is that?! I wanted to ask you about her... Ive never heard anything about her besides what the pundits are scambling to figure out this morning... I confess her conservative stance on some things scares me too, but I suppose I wouldnt expect a non-conservative to be selected.
what do you think about he Alaskan drilling thing?
I have a lot of mixed feelings about this. Most of Alaska is all for it. I am for it under an administration that has a sound energy and environmental policy in place..... which means I'll probably never be able to support any current drilling plans!
People get all misty eyed about Nature and Untouched Wilderness when talking about Alaska, which is a bunch of bullshit. It's all been touched - by Native Alaskans, in some century or another, or by tons of wildlife. Most discussions about ANWR seem to have this nearly mythological reverence for land no one (who is doing the talking) has ever been to. What do people in Iowa care about a tract of land bigger than many US states? But they wax on and on about untouched blah blah. People make livings off the land. This is a reality and oil - if we continue to use it - needs to come from somewhere.
At this time, with the technology we have, I guess I prefer not to tap it, because it is a small amount of oil and why cause damage if we don't have to? But as far as the principal of drilling, I'm not 100% necessarily against it.
I don't feel very coherent this morning - it's 6.45am and I'm nursing and I have a cold, but that'll do for now I guess.
i can't figure out if i think this to be a strategic and gutsy move or a stupid one. i mean, who is this woman again? one of mccain's biggest criticisms of obama was obama's inexperience. now he has a governor with 2 years under her belt as his running mate? before she became the governor she was a mayor of a town with a population of 6,000. *baffled*
eh. if nothing else, the road to election day is going to be mighty interesting.
