My partner is brilliant. I was stressing about how to entertain B and how to get things done and blah blah blah. "Why not just take care of Bennett all day long? You don't need to do anything else."

Duh. I mean, it's not like I don't take care of Bennett on other days, but today is the one day he and I have alone. I don't go into work, Adam isn't here (he works from home on Fridays). He and I can trade off with B the other days of the week and we can clean the house and do the laundry on the other days. Thursdays are now officially All About Bennett days.

Today he nursed and napped in my lap. He has bathed, had nakey time on the floor, played in his play gym twice, been sung to a lot. We've danced, discussed the bedroom, worked on some baby sign language. He's been read to and played with and snuggled. Now he is passed out in the bedroom from all the fun.

And you know, it's great for me too. I don't have chores or Shoulds looming over my head. It's all about Bennett and bonding and frankly, it feels like a little bit of a holiday.

Some photos from today:

Wow, that is awesome. Way to go supportive hubby! Bennett looks pretty happy with his toys there. :)

Sounds lovely!

How are you finding the sign language going? I haven't looked into it yet, but I'm definitely interested.

We've been doing it off and on since he came home. Of course, it's too early for him to respond to, but eventually he will. I'm hoping that it's sinking in somewhere. I think anything that helps little pre-verbal kidlets communicate is a good thing!

I didn't even think to start so early. But of course we talk to Henry all the time, so why couldn't we sign to him. I'm going to start now :D

Also, another way to think of it: on days where you're burnt out from near and far, up and down play, here is one more tool to play with.

SUCH a good idea. I wish I had more time to just do stuff with Addie but it's so hard with the big kids here and Joel at work all the time. Sigh.

Adam and I realize how spoiled B is being the first born. He is the first born of two first borns.

look at your fat guy... oh he's so beautiful.
We did signing with nora and it worked!!! It was really cool when she asked for milk, and it was also nice to have a whole new method of communication!

I look forward to having a tool to bridge the preverbal gap. I've heard it can help reduce tantrums because the child is able to communicate.

He is getting some chub. :) It's so great! He really likes being naked now. I tried to get him smiling, but no dice.
