In humans parvovirus is called Fifth Disease. In children it is characterized by a rash and cheeks that look as though they've been slapped. In adults it is characterized by fatigue, arthritic joints and mild fever.

Is it the same parvo that dogs get that makes them go crazy and kills them?

Or something like that.

The most common form of parvo strikes dogs, but any mammal can get it. Fifth's (the human equivalent) is most common in kids and it can cause spontaneous abortion in pregnant women in their first trimester. Yikes. So I'm glad if I was going to get it, I have it now. I'm surprised B hasn't come down with it.

Ohhhh ....

Fifth disease I've heard of.

Glad it's this and not the horrendous adult version of the Chicken Pox.

I already had the chicken pox - Christmas of 1980. Good times.

note that each parvo is species specific. so, you can not catch it from your cat or dog.
