This sort of thing happens so often in American cities that it's only news worthy of 2 paragraphs on the third page of newspapers most of the time. It's shocking to me. My first thought is that these women might have been prostitutes. That's not to make their deaths any more important, just to point out that my neighborhood ain't that great. That street has blocks and blocks of cheap motels and at night the ladies and trannies walk the streets.

It makes me sad.

Well, prostitution makes me sad, but what makes me sad is that violence against women and minorities is basically ignored. It makes me sad that violence is so normalized over here. It makes me sad that I'm not outraged.
