I suppose it has to be Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There is no image that I can find that just doesn't look ridiculous. In the 90s I never saw an episode and I thought it sounded like the stupidest show ever. When in grad school, after the show had ended, a friend introduced me and I ended up watching all seven seasons in 2 years. The show is camp, which I love. I love the metaphor of horror for teen angst. Like all shows set in high school, the transition out of that safe stereotype was rough. I also had a loathing for Faith (mostly because Eliza Dushku can't act to save her life) and I thought Tara was a wet, moldy blanket. I adored Anya and Willow. I even started to follow the season 8 comic book, but.... I have a hard time with that format. I always want more.

I feel like I'm the ONLY person in the world who feels that way! Yay!! We can have our own little club.

I never cared for either.

I loved everyone on that show, except sometimes Xander, as he could really be an insufferable ass...probably because he's Joss's self insert. I actually identified quite strongly with certain aspects of both Faith and Tara's characters, so I liked them a lot.

I am pretty sure we've more than covered Faith and Tara together, so I am just going to let the subject drop! :)

Have you watched Angel, too?

Only one or two episodes in passing. What is your opinion of it?

I liked it more than Buffy. It's a completely different feel, of course, film noire more than horror, and the first season was a little rocky, but I thought the humor was better. Season 5 was one of Joss Whedon's best seasons of television on any show.

I've also really been enjoying the Buffy and Firefly comics. Haven't read the Angel ones yet. Have you seen Firefly?

I LOVE Firefly! Hm, that is high praise for Angel! I shall have to check it out! It could be perfect viewing for when Adam is gone for two weeks this summer.

I only watched a couple episodes of Buffy...it just never resonated with me.

I think it helped that I started watching it with a friend who LOVED it. Adam and I were visiting and over the weekend we watched all of season one. By that point I was sucked in. It's not for everyone. I cannot abide Glee, so there's that.

Yeah, I was like that for a long time - I'd catch an ep on tv randomly and think "whatever". I think it was "Hush" that got me in properly...if you get a chance to check that ep out I'd recommend it.
