I live in Manhattan, so we pay a city tax as well. It's pretty much insane. EDIT: Insane isn't the right word. This is the most highly taxed place in the nation, but it's also the most highly serviced place in the nation. Almost a quarter of the population is on Welfare and probably 10% of students receive special services through the schoolboard.
