.... is so much better than whatever it is you ate fresh for lunch. Yes, I am going to brag. Brace yourselves.

I had such a crappy, muddled day yesterday. I took off from work early and went grocery shopping. Despite (inspite of?) my bike tipping over onto one side and crushing one of the bags of groceries, the eggs survived! What helps soothe a frazzled Ewigweibliche? A quick tidy of the apartment, a glass of wine (the gewurztraminer had wine rot! Dammit! So I opened a zinfandel), and a home-cooked meal hits the spot every time. I cooked up honey-mustard marinated silver salmon (still eating the stuff I caught this summer), yukon gold potatoes with tree-something mushrooms, parsley and dill, and rosemary apples fried in butter. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Tonight, in an effort to continue chilling the fuck out, I will cook dinner (I'm thinking some baked pasta with chard), sing along to some Dolly and Kate Rusby, and read my Sarah Waters novel.

I did see the BBC film. Yeah, I liked it. I saw it on the big screen when the Seattle Gay n Lesbian film fest premiered it. I even got to meet Ms Waters becuase Bailey/Coy was sponsoring the event and doing the book signing. I had a huge author crush going on. I still found the book much more saucy in my own mind. A certain red head saw it with me...... Speaking of whom, any word on the wedding?

It's South African and yummy. Peppery. Highly recommended.

As for the other, I bought tickets. Look for me right before Halloween. I'll be running out of class to the airport on Thursday and then flying back on Monday to crash before teaching on Tuesday. Is that dedication or what?

Can I come over for dinner? I love me some salmon. I'll bring a book too, that way I won't be a pain. ;)

Woot!

So you'll be here the last weekend of October? And will you be staying at Chez Moi?

The recipes all came from one of my favorite cookbooks Kitchen of Light. It's a Scandanavian cookbook and the foods - heavy on the fish and wild berries - makes perfect sense in Alaska. I'll see if I can remember to post the recipes later tonight!

You can look at it tomorrow night! I am going to cook the mushroom/potato recipe again. I think it goes marvelously with salmon. So, you can guess the menu for tomorrow night!

See you at 7!
