It's actually a very very dark navy silk. Looks black in the photos and to the undiscerning eye. They are gorgeous dresses and hopefully I'll get some upclose shots up soon. The sash round my neck matches the navy charmeuse silk that the mens' ties and handkerchiefs were made out of.

I ended up really liking this look and the ladies can wear their dresses to so many more outings. Plus, their colorings are so different that to pick an actual color made me want to die a little. And besides, nature made all the colors here!
