This week is so fantastic. Boot camp is sheer, muscle-aching delight. I jogged 5 miles yesterday!! People! This is HUGE. I am my own hero. I am not a runner and I made it around Lake Merritt (3.4 miles) plus some! Thankfully, there was a great pace setter for me to mindlessly follow. I got to look at all the birds making happy morning sounds as the sun came up over the hills: mallards, Canadian geese, two kinds of seagulls, two types of crane-like birds, and a heron, not mention other assorted small ducks and birds. Wow!

Of course, this morning I am beat. Staying out past midnight to go to a show was not wise, but it was fun. Adam and I and our neighbor went to Cafe du Nord (GREAT venue in San Francisco) to see Noe Venable. She was fantastic. Melodic, lively, mesmerizing, musical. Plus, the lady gets extra huge props from me for two reasons: she is a high soprano and she is starting a grad program in comparative religion at Havard Divinity School. Hot damn!

But those delightful joys just take me to Wednesday. Today is Adam and [livejournal.com profile] hrafntinna's birthday. I am making some seriously tasty nachos for dinner tonight at Adam's request. And tomorrow Adam and I will be house sitting in an amazing black house near Golden Gate Park in SF for the weekend. I look forward to exploring this little nook of a neighborhood. Plus, tomorrow morning I am heading to the communal baths at the Kabuki Spa. I can't wait. The the next three days are like a vacation - except I'm only going across the bridge.

i'm glad you are loving bootcamp so much. this morning was my last class of the summer session. the trainer is continuing with another 8 week fall session, which i've already signed up for because i enjoy it so much.

i'm jealous that you saw noe venable, i love her. she has a beautiful song about the black madonna which you might appreciate. i like the interesting things she does with her voice, it's more then just carrying a tune.

your little vacay across the bridge sounds wonderful. i love house sitting. it's so nice to live in someone else's life and environment for a little bit. we're going up to big bear for a bachelor/ette weekend at a cabin. i'm really looking forward to getting away and just having some fun for a couple of days.

Noe's voice is really beautiful. It sounds a little trained to me - but in the good way! Like, she's learned to use the unique instrument she has (so many singer/songwriters, pop singers, etc, have lower voices, whether natural or not). I love how at home she is in her voice. And her songs are beautiful too. I look forward to getting to know her music more. She played a new song last night about god (I think) or now being in grad school for religion and running to other people's ideas of god. It was amazing.

I hope you have a delightful time this weekend. I wish we could be there with you!

Ohmy goodness, the Kabuki baths are AMAZING. Bliss. I haven't been this soft in ages and my skin glows.

Also, I've always loved this icon and now I know where it comes from! I had a delightful time at Fields today. Spent some money too! [livejournal.com profile] eye_of_zohar is a great shopkeeper and has an incredible memory for people....
