I leave tomorrow morning for a week in San Diego. I will be attending the American Academy of Religion national conference for 5 days. Basically it's a bunch of religious scholars (of every stripe, creed, religion and focus) presenting papers and networking. I have signed up for several feminist and women in religion seminars. Hopefully, I'll have some fun stuff to report on.

I'll be staying with my in-laws in suburbia just outside the city. Then Adam comes down for the Thanksgiving holiday.

If I don't get a chance to post, I hope everyone eats well, gets a chance to unwind, and doesn't go crazy this next week.

i´ve been thinking about you a lot, mostly because we´ve seen tons of beautiful beautiful marys. in fact, i even have a post card for you. can you send me your snail mail address?

Yay for Marys! In California, when I mention that I study the Virgin Mary most people launch into how fasinating the Virgen de Guadalupe is. And I agree. But I hardly study her (although I will a little more) since I do systematic theology. I could imagine if a person decided to do a pilgrimage to Guadalupe/Mary sites in Latin America s/he might never return home - it would take a lifetime!
