I woke up early this morning, ravenous. So I convinced myself to roll out of bed and make myself pancakes. 90 minutes later I'm hungry again. I'm dragging my feet this morning. I don't feel rested, but it's more to do with me avoiding inconvenience and conflict. Since when do I avoid conflict?! ...Right, since getting pregnant.
The little yellow bug we've been in charge of since Fictional Emily left for Scotland has been acting up for a while. Stalling every time we reverse, idle or come to a stop. Unsafe and really fucking annoying. We took it in to Em's mechanic and one week and $450 later the guy said it was fixed. Of course, two weeks after that it's worse than before we took it in! I dread going back there. The mechanic has horrible communication skills, doesn't call when he says he will (actually, doesn't call at all), doesn't listen well, etc. I don't want to play the lead in Stubborn Woman at the Mechanics today.
I've become an avoid-er, a trait I dislike in others. I have foisted so much off to Adam that I need to take care of this.
I really should post a picture of this car. It's the friendliest car ever. If only it ran as well as it makes people smile. It's a bright yellow 1970 bug with a modified '39 body (why can't I EVER remember the date?). It's very cool, but will be undrivable when I'm 9 months pregnant, nor can it hold a baby seat, so come July we'll have find a safe place let it sit till Em comes back from Scotland.
Update I took the car in. Everyone was so nice. Wilson, an older mechanic drove me to work and we talked about the Philippines, where he's from. He said we was buying a lottery ticket today and if he wins he'll fly me first class to the Philippines. Sweet!
Sadly, I got a call from the head mechanic. He said he drove the car for a mile and it didn't stall on him at all. ?!?? I don't get it. It stalled out on me 4 times just getting to the mechanic! (And it's not just me, it happens to Adam also.)
