Great loss

I don't know how I missed the entry.... well, I do. I was working all day yesterday and didn't read my friends page. A woman from one of my due date communities lost her sweet, beautiful daughter yesterday. I have been crying my eyes out at work. I cannot even imagine the grief. I have never met this woman, but I respect her so much and I loved her stories and pictures of her little girl.

This puts every difficult day in perspective. I will take a hundred difficult nights of crying and sore nipples and getting kicked in the belly and a hundred zombie days of sleep deprivation if it means another day of little Bennett's smiles and snuggles.

What is remembered lives.

I stopped reading the ddc a long time ago...It wasn't Aybra, was it? She's the only baby who I know by name and have followed since birth that was supposed to be born in July. That doesn't lessen the pain, of course, I just don't know anyone else from there.

i've never met yael either but i've been reading her journal for a couple years now and she never failed to impress as a mother, as a woman, as a human being.

I keep saying I would buy a book of hers on parenting and annecdotes. I hope she doesn't stop writing. She impresses me a great deal and my heart breaks for her and her family. It's a reminder that tragedy doesn't occur to "bad" parents or to inexperienced parents. I am taking lots of deep breaths today.

In the middle of the night, up with B, I found myself moving into the next stage of grief - asking the Why questions. Why this family? Why this baby in a home that is loving? Why not other babies who live in neglect or abuse? The unanswerable questions.

I am surprised at how much I am grieving Adelle's death, but I am.
