A lovely sentiment. But I know from experience that is it very hard to write a thesis while busy transforming.

I'm not sure how you mean this, but it comes across as condescending in tone.

Not condescending just remembering. I loved being in Grad School. It was transformative in my life. But I remember how hard it was to both enter into the experiences and have the time and concentration to read and write. There was a whole lot going on in the '60's. A lot of it had a theological basis. We thought we could transform the Church and the world. OMG it was great fun! But it was hard to give time to studies.
