Only mildly embarrassed to admit that I LOVED High School Musical 3. That's right. I loved it.

Why? Because I love a cheesy musical and this movie completely embraced the trope and form. There was more 'plot' but really it was about defining moments with strong characters, which is what a musical does. The adult characters were less stock and even the annoying glitter queen was toned down. The music was better, there was more dancing, and the singers had all matured and sounded so much better.

I didn't watch #2 and I have no desire to. It's set at a country club and I just couldn't care less. HSM 1 was a snooze fest, but HSM 3 was totally worth it and I will watch it again..... next time I'm ill. Or maybe even not.

Opening basketball court sweaty faced Zac Efron scene. YUM.
Highschool Musical 2 is meh. There are a few songs that I dig but ultimately, 3 is my favorite. Charlie really likes 2, Maya likes 3 and Joel likes 1.

That opening scene was the tween money shot, and I fer real laughed out loud. And hard.

And also? Shit like this movie just makes me feel old and washed up/out. I blame getting pregnant and having children.

Good to know. We just watched HSM 1 last week and thought it was OK, could be fun for the kids. But I guess we'll have to put HSM 3 on our Netflix queue now.

Do. It's WAY more *musical style*. The first didn't fully commit.

Hey, the movie committed to being a full on musical in all it's cheesy and sparkly glory. I gotta love it. It was like the director got a budget and finally figured out what he was doing.

What is there to be ashamed of?!

In each sequel, you've seen them evolve and expand the characters more and more. HSM 1 was alright but it really just annoyed me, which could be because the girls watched it at least once a day until the second one came out! HSM 2 was alright but it was basically a super long cat fight over Zac Efron (as cute as he is, booooring). HSM 3 was a bit more evolved and added soe depth to many of the characters. Furthermore, it had some very catchy tunes that got stuck in my cranium! ;p
