I'm disappointed. I'm sitting at home watching the polls the return. Some people have Super Bowl parties, I prefer elections. Man, 4 years ago.... such memories, especially concerning a certain Icelandic expert and a fifth of gin. Hoo boy. This time around I'm not having so much fun. Why? Because for the first time in my life I have abstained from voting.

That's right. I did not vote today. I just can't choose between Obama or Clinton. Can't do it. I had some great information from several people on both sides and it still didn't help. They are the same, but different. And, even more pathetic, because I've spent so much time obsessed over the presidential primary I neglected to read anything on the initiatives.

I feel like my abstention is an accurate reflection of my position and therefore is more of a vote than if I had gone in and just picked some one. Even though I feel like this is the most integrity filled decision I can make at this time, I am still outing myself as a tremendous hypocrite.

Eh, you're not a hypocrite if you don't care which one is nominated. Really, the general election is the one that matters.

But I am. I sent an email round my office reminding everyone to vote. Sigh.

AH! Remember that's how I felt last week?!

I did vote, but I felt so sad when I marked the line for Obama. But, my dear husband stood our ground in an alternative party for us and so I take heart in that.

Imagine, being saddened at this choice. When I woke up this morning I was so delighted I started crying. At least for the Democrats, there is a choice between an African American and a woman for President. If that's not an accomplishment of change, then I don't know what is!

Yeah, it's remarkable. It's exciting to think that our children will be learning about this election in history class - for good reasons, rather than just rote learning.

Sounds mean but is meant kindly:

Man, if you didn't vote at all, then yes, you are a hypocrite. You could have voted for the propositions and left the presidential stuff blank.

I still like you, though. :)

Personally, I think voting on local stuff is way more important than voting on federal things because your vote is a larger fraction of the total and thus has more of a chance of making a difference.

I completely agree with you about the importance of local stuff! But see, I didn't read up on them at all, and those one liners in the ballot don't explain anything. So I opted not to vote at all. I know, totally lame.

I'm definitely in the "better not to vote at all than to vote uninformed" camp. :)

Can't wait to see you guys this weekend!
